Jan Rongé

Jan Rongé is an accomplished professional in the field of renewable energy and research. Currently serving as the CEO of Solhyd since September 2023, Jan previously held the position of Chair and co-founder of the local citizen's energy cooperative Druifkracht from December 2019 to April 2024. With a strong background in research, Jan worked as a Research Fellow at KU Leuven from July 2012 to August 2023, focusing on the development of solar hydrogen panels and undertaking a PhD project that aimed to create a photoelectrochemical cell for solar fuel production. Additionally, Jan has experience as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and a PhD fellow with Research Foundation Flanders, along with a visiting researcher role at the University of Cambridge, where sustainable technologies were developed for water splitting. Jan began the professional journey with an internship at M4E NV, contributing to innovative beverage carbonation methods. Jan holds a Master’s degree in Bioscience engineering from KU Leuven.
