Hyungrak Kim is currently the VP of Powder Production at Solid Power. Hyungrak has over 18 years of experience in the nanomaterials and renewable energy industries.
Kim started their career as a Postdoctoral researcher at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2002. Hyungrak then went on to work as a Sr. Scientist at Cabot Corporation, where they were responsible for developing inkjet printable Ag & Ni nanoparticles conductive inks. In 2008, they became the Ink Formulation & QA Manager at Innovalight, Inc., where they oversaw Si nanoparticle ink formulation and production scale-up.
In 2011, Kim left Innovalight to join OCI as a Research Fellow. At OCI, they worked on developing nano-Silicon based anode materials for high energy capacity Li-ion batteries and Cu-core Ag-shell nanocomposite paste for crystalline Si Solar Cell front grid. Hyungrak stayed at OCI until 2014 before joining Solid Power as VP of Powder Production.
Hyungrak Kim obtained their Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis. Prior to that, they obtained their BS/MS from Yonsei University.
Hyungrak Kim reports to Doug Campbell, Co-Founder & CEO. Some of their coworkers include James Liebscher - Chief Legal Officer, Pu Zhang - VP, R&D, and Josh Buettner-Garrett - Chief Technology Officer.
