Wes Viola

Wesley Viola is a Senior Research Engineer at Soliyarn since February 2023, previously serving as a PhD student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from September 2017 to February 2023. During the PhD program, Wesley focused on coated electroactive conducting polymers on fabrics using vapor phase chemistry, optimized deposition parameters for polymer electrodes, and developed an aqueous eutectic electrolyte for low temperature energy storage. Notable achievements include winning a PPG-sponsored fellowship for research on solar thermal textiles and experience in microcontroller-based chamber design. Prior internships at E Ink Corporation involved contributing to the development of electrophoretic display technology and researching thermoresponsive polymers, resulting in an invention disclosure and patent. Wesley holds a Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University, completed in May 2017.
