James Hayner has worked in the IT industry since 1994. James began their career at Russ Reid Company as a Computer Specialist, where they assisted in maintaining a 100-user Novell network and upgraded the company's 100 286 PC's to 486 PC's, moving the company to the Windows 95 platform. James then worked at High Tech Computers as a Service Manager Western Puerto Rico, where they managed the Service Department and performed all onsite service calls for an Apple Authorized Service Provider in Puerto Rico. In 1997, they moved to Orange Micro, Inc as a Senior Technician, working closely with design engineers alpha testing hardware, specialized Windows drivers (NIC, Video, Sound etc.). James then worked at Ferguson Enterprises, Inc as a PC Services Manager and was promoted to Senior in six months and then to Manager after a year. In 2001, they joined Amerigroup Corporation as a LAN Administrator, responsible for the overall integration of the enterprise LAN. In 2003, they moved to Carnival Corporation as a Senior Information Systems Manager, where they were responsible for the operation and maintenance of the revenue and guest tracking systems, and ship communications. In 2007, they joined Applied Services and Information Systems as an IT Team Lead, providing direct customer support for issues across a wide range of products and technologies. In 2008, they moved to LifeNet as a VMware / Storage Engineer, where they planned and implemented large-scale projects including designing the VMware infrastructure to support full virtualization of SAP. In 2011, they joined Gannett | USA TODAY NETWORK as a Platform Developer, Cloud Engineering and was later promoted to Sr Systems Architect, Cloud Platforms, where they oversaw the design, architecture and implementation of the Gannett Storage and OpenStack Infrastructure. In 2021, they joined solo.io as a Customer Success Engineer.
James Hayner's education history includes attending Tidewater Community College from 2010 to 2011, where they obtained a degree in Business Technology: Virtualization. James also attended the Learning Institute, although no degree was obtained. Hayner has obtained a number of certifications, including Fundamentals for Envoy by Solo.io from solo.io in September 2022, Fundamentals for Istio Ambient Mesh by Solo.io from solo.io in September 2022, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect from Google in March 2021, Foundation for Istio by Solo.io from solo.io in October 2021, and Essential Google Cloud Infrastructure: Core Services from Coursera.
