Gary Kohn

Gary Kohn is a Principal and the Chief Operating Officer of SCB, overseeing firm-wide corporate operations and management functions. He provides leadership and direction on the firm’s financial management, corporate organization, project delivery, and operational processes.

Gary also serves as a Managing Principal on many of the firm’s projects. In this role, his direct project responsibilities include team organization and assembly, contract review and fee oversight, and overall project delivery strategy and execution. His counsel and organizational expertise is instrumental at the beginning of projects, especially those with complex team structures and challenging entitlements or approvals processes. In his 35+ years of practice, he has supervised teams for numerous large-scale residential, hospitality, commercial office, and adaptive reuse projects nationwide. Recent projects include Loews North Park Drive, a 50-story mixed use hotel and residential development in Chicago, IL; The Bristol, a luxury condominium tower in West Palm Beach, FL; Eastline, a residential tower in Dallas, TX; and the conversion of the landmark Tribune Tower into luxury condominiums in Chicago, IL.

He received his Bachelor and Master of Architecture degrees from the University of Nebraska and holds active licenses in 26 states. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the AIA Large Firm Roundtable, the Chicago Committee on High-rise Buildings, the Executive Club of Chicago, and serves on the board for Easterseals of Metropolitan Chicago.
