Matt Aveling

Matt Aveling is the Senior Vice President of Strategic Accounts at SOMA Global. Matt has over 25 years of experience in law enforcement and security, most recently serving as the Director of Security at Soboba Casino Resort. In this role, they were responsible for the overall activities of the Security Department and maintaining the safety and security of all employees and guests. Matt also oversaw all investigations regarding disturbances, complaints, and violations of all laws, Soboba Casino policies, and Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission regulations.

Prior to joining SOMA Global, Matt served as a Senior Consultant at Axiom Advantage Group, Inc. and as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Moreno Valley College. Matt began their career in 1995 as a Chief Deputy with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, where they served for 25 years before retiring.

Matt has a passion for giving back to their community and has been involved with several organizations throughout their career. Matt is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the California Peace Officers Association, and the Riverside Sheriffs' Association. Matt has also served on the Board of Directors for the Riverside County Sheriff's Advisory Council and the Riverside Sheriff's Training Academy Foundation.

Matt Aveling's educational career includes a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Criminal Justice from Columbia Southern University and a Basic Peace Officer Academy Certification in Administration of Justice from Riverside City College. Matt also has certification from the California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) in POST Academy Director/Coordinator Certification, 2018, as well as POST Management, Supervisory, Advanced, Intermediate, and Basic Certificates from the State of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST).
