Bart-Jaap Verbeek

Bart-Jaap Verbeek is a seasoned Senior Researcher at SOMO since January 2018, focusing on trade and investment law and policy as part of the Fair, Green and Global Alliance. Verbeek has served as a participating observer for the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law's Working Group III on Investor-State Dispute Settlement Reform. Previously, Verbeek was a Research Fellow and PhD candidate in Political Science at Radboud University, where the dissertation examined the EU Investment Policy from a critical political economy perspective. Earlier roles include Researcher at Milieudefensie and positions in writing, legal assistance, and geographical analysis. Verbeek holds a PhD from Radboud University and multiple degrees in related fields from various prestigious institutions.
