Erik is Vice President, Product Validation at Sonde Health, where he works with the Sonde team and external partners to establish clinical validity and use cases that drive real-world impact of Sonde’s technology. His career spans research and management from several leading technology and research organizations.
Erik most recently served as head of Translational Medicine at Decibel Therapeutics, where as an early employee, he built and led a team that conducted clinical research programs to support pharmaceutical interventions for treating hearing loss. Before Decibel, Erik was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Co, where he served clients in pharmaceuticals, biotech and med tech on operations strategy, implementation and transformations. While at McKinsey, Erik led a collaboration with GS1 on research to quantify the business case and public health impact of adopting global standards in the healthcare supply chain. The recommendations were endorsed by dozens of leading healthcare organizations. Erik started his professional career as a research scientist at Philips and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he developed signal processing algorithms for audio, acoustics, and sound reproduction.
Erik received a Master of Science in Applied Physics (Delft University of Technology) and Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (MIT). He also received a PhD from MIT in Biomedical Engineering, with a focus in Speech & Hearing Bioscience and Technology.
