Dave Tucker is the CEO of Sonocent, a company they co-founded in 2009. Prior to launching Sonocent, Dave worked with their father to develop the company from a fledgling startup into an established multinational accessibility technology company.
As the second employee of Sonocent, Dave was responsible for all commercial activity, including sales, marketing, product strategy, brand and customer development. Their initial focus was on growing Sonocent's market share in the DSA market, before developing a new market for their Audio Notetaker product. Both endeavors were ultimately successful: Audio Notetaker is now one of the most recommended products in the DSA, and Sonocent is a well-established brand within the North American disability market.
During their time with Sonocent, Dave has been awarded the BETT award for Best Company (2015) and the Education Resources Award for Best Special Education Resource (2014). Dave has also been a frequent speaker at international conferences on the importance of reimagining how we take notes to enable all learners to do it independently.
Dave Tucker has a Bachelor's Degree in Japanese from the University of Leeds. Dave is also JLPT Level 1 certified from the Japan Foundation. Dave has taken Japanese language, academic Japanese, Japanese for business and tourism, and drama courses at Nanzan University.
