Walter Bender

Walter Bender has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Walter is currently serving as the Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Learning Officer at Sorcero since December 2022 and May 2018, respectively. Previously, they held the positions of Chief Technology Officer and Chief Learning Architect at Sorcero from January 2019 to December 2022 and June 2018 to January 2019, respectively.

Prior to joining Sorcero, Bender was a Board Member at Squeakland Foundation in 2009. Walter also served as the Executive Director at Sugar Labs in 2008. Before that, they worked as a senior research scientist at MIT since 1978.

Bender has also held leadership positions at One Laptop per Child (OLPC) and One Laptop Per Child Association, Inc. during the period of 2006 to 2008. Additionally, they were the Executive Director at MIT Media Lab from 2000 to 2006.

Walter Bender obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from Harvard University, where they studied between 1973 and 1977. Walter further pursued their education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), obtaining a Master of Science (MS) degree from 1978 to 1980.
