Martin Steegmaier

Martin Steegmaier has extensive work experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. Martin is currently serving as the Chief Scientific Officer at SOTIO Biotech since September 2022. Prior to this, they worked at MorphoSys as the Head of Research from March 2020 to August 2022. From 2012 to 2020, they held various roles at Roche Innovation Center Munich, including Head of Discovery, Large Molecule Research and Senior Biomarker and Experimental Medicine Leader. Before that, they worked at F. Hoffmann-La Roche as a Project Team Leader Oncology and Director of Global Business Development from 2006 to 2009. Martin started their career at Boehringer Ingelheim in 2000 as a Group Leader and Project Leader Oncology Research, where they worked until 2006.

Martin Steegmaier pursued their education starting with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Northern Arizona University from 1989 to 1991. Martin then obtained a Diploma in Biology from the University of Tübingen from 1991 to 1993. Martin furthered their studies and earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Basel between 1993 and 1996. Later, they joined Stanford University as a Postdoctoral Researcher from 1996 to 2000. Martin concluded their education by completing an MBA at Edinburgh Business School from 2001 to 2004.
