Mary Bartels

A psychiatrist at Sound for more than two decades, and its Chief Medical Officer since 2016, Mary Bartels, M.D., oversees Sound’s Medical program, including management of more than 20 medical professionals including psychiatrists, primary care doctors, ARNPs, physician assistants and other practitioners.

The medical team provides diagnostic psychiatric evaluations, treatment and clinical team consultations, and prescribing as well as monitoring medication for clients across Sound’s entire clinical program offerings, ranging from youth and children to adults and older adults.

She has played a significant role in driving Sound’s telehealth initiatives, the organization’s move toward whole health integration and medication assisted treatment (MAT) organization wide.

Dr. Bartels is a member of the American Association of Community Psychiatrists, has an MD from the University of North Carolina and is board- certified in general psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
