Susie Winston is Chief Learning & Professional Development Officer at Sound. She provides leadership for the organization’s best practices, supervision, training and consultation for all educational activities.
Winston and her team are responsible for providing training to all Sound team members on the Reaching Recovery model implemented at Sound in 2017. Additionally, Winston and her team work across the organization to implement improvements to the clinical user experience in Avatar, Sound’s electronic health record, and developed an interdisciplinary Behavioral Health Assessment that improves access to behavioral health services for the people Sound serves.
Winston brings more than 33 years of experience in community behavioral health to her leadership role. A child mental health specialist and family therapist trained in evidence-based practices, she is an expert in the treatment of all facets of abuse, trauma, neglect and the impact of trauma and violence on children and adults, including domestic violence.
Winston has focused much of her career on improving cross-system partnerships, particularly focusing on improving the collaboration between mental health and domestic violence professionals. She is responsible for the implementation of Sound’s Children’s Domestic Violence Response Team (CDVRT), a specialized and one-of-a-kind program in collaboration with domestic violence advocacy organizations to address the needs of children who are impacted by domestic violence.
Winston has a MSW from the University of California at Fresno and is a licensed independent clinical social worker.
