Russell’s leadership, business acumen, and performance results led him to numerous promotions in an extensive 20-year banking career that began in 1994. Prior to joining Sound Payments, Russell served as President and CEO of MAFCU and was promoted to the rank of Major, Armour, in the United States Army Reserves.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts from The University of the State of New York and earned a Master’s Degree from Troy State University. Russell completed the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Virginia in partnership with the Consumer Bankers Association.
Russell’s commitment to the community is reflected by his recent service on the Board of Directors of Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Montgomery County, and the Montgomery County Hispanic Advisory Group. His past service includes serving on numerous boards related to business, education, public service, and non-profits in North Florida and the Pittsburgh areas.
Russell resides in Jacksonville with his wife and three of his four sons. He is an avid runner and enjoys golfing for the fellowship with others. Since living in Florida, he started open ocean kayaking — loving the adventure of it.
