Amy Bartow-Melia

Amy Bartow-Melia currently serves as the Executive Director of the South Carolina State Museum, responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the state’s largest museum since August 2020. Prior to this role, Amy spent over two decades at the Smithsonian Institution, where roles included MacMillan Associate Director for Audience Engagement and Associate Director for Programs and Strategic Initiatives at the National Museum of American History. Amy’s earlier experience includes leadership positions such as Executive Director of Children's International Art Outreach and Founding Director of the London International Gallery of Children's Art. Amy holds a BA Cum Laude in Anthropology and Education from William & Mary and a MAT in Museum Education from The George Washington University, along with various leadership training certificates from esteemed institutions.
