Kayla Bastian

Kayla Bastian has extensive experience in human resources and retirement planning. Kayla started their career as a Retirement Planner at SD Retirement System in 2008, where they advised members on retirement decisions and obtained a Certified Retirement Counselor certification. In 2013, they joined SD Board of Regents as an Assistant Director of Human Resources, responsible for payroll management, benefits administration, and vendor relations. Kayla later took on the role of Director of Human Resources, where they provided leadership, developed HR policies, and ensured compliance with state and federal regulations. In 2022, they were promoted to Chief HR Officer at South Dakota Board of Regents, where they continue to lead strategic initiatives and drive positive organizational effectiveness.

Kayla Bastian completed their education at the University of South Dakota from 2011 to 2013, where they earned a Master of Science in Administration with a specialization in Organizational Leadership. Prior to that, they attended Black Hills State University from 2004 to 2008, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a focus on Human Resources and Management.
