Dermoth M.

Dermoth M. is an accomplished educator and leader with extensive experience in the charter school sector. As the Founder and Executive Director of South Shore Charter School since 2021, Dermoth established a K-5 SUNY authorized tuition-free public charter school in Central Islip, New York, focused on fostering tenacity, integrity, and curiosity in students. Dermoth has served as an Adjunct Professor at Touro College and the New York Institute of Technology, specializing in Childhood and Special Education, and previously held the position of Principal at The Academy Charter School from 2015 to 2021, driving significant improvements in student achievement. Dermoth also contributed as Assistant Principal at La Cima Elementary Charter School, where notable increases in student proficiency were achieved. Dermoth is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree at St. John's University, building on a strong academic foundation including a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Brooklyn College and a Master of Science in Childhood Education from Metropolitan College of New York.
