Michael Cooper

Michael Cooper is a Family Practice Physician at Southcentral Foundation since August 2016, bringing extensive experience from previous roles, including Infectious Disease Program Manager and Deputy State Epidemiologist for the State of Alaska from July 2011 to August 2016. In this position, responsibilities included managing the Infectious Disease Program, overseeing grant and budget duties, and conducting epidemiological investigations. Additional experience includes serving as a Physician at Northern Counties Health Care and Maniilaq Health Center, and an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer focused on outbreak investigations. Michael's educational background encompasses a residency at Duluth Family Practice, a Doctor of Medicine degree from Michigan State University, and a Master's in Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine from the University of Maryland Baltimore. Prior experience also includes volunteering as an English teacher with the Peace Corps in Eritrea.
