Jovian Sackett is an experienced geospatial professional with over 16 years of expertise in geospatial science and analysis. Currently serving as Director of Geospatial Science at the Southern Environmental Law Center since August 2007, Jovian oversees the production and application of geospatial information, ensuring scientifically sound and legally defensible outputs for various cases and projects. Responsibilities include managing a robust geospatial data library, enhancing communication strategies through effective map presentations, and collaborating across teams to integrate GIS analysis into project work. Previous experience includes roles as GIS Analyst at SELC, GIS Assistant at the South Carolina Forestry Commission, Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of South Carolina, and internships at multiple environmental organizations. Jovian holds a Master’s degree in Geography from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
