Matt began their career in the United States Army/Georgia Army National Guard as a Captain, serving from February 1981 to October 2001. Matt then moved on to Control Specialties, Inc. as an Office Manager/Sales Representative, where they solicited steam, air, and water products, increasing sales by an average of 15% each year. Next, they worked as a National Marketing Manager at National Instrument Company, where they implemented marketing campaigns and customer management software, resulting in a 20% increase in sales. Matt then joined Atlanta Gas Light as a Firm Industrial Sales Representative, responsible for implementing marketing and sales programs and promoting natural gas technologies. Matt worked there from August 1995 to September 1997. Following that, they were employed as a Regional Energy Manager at SouthStar Energy Services, where they developed relationships with industrial decision-makers, maximized sales, and retained 95% of the customer base. Matt then moved on to the role of Account Manager at the same company, managing billing and customer service operations. Finally, they held the positions of Manager, B2B Markets and Director, B2B Markets at SouthStar Energy Services, where they had P&L responsibility for multiple business units and implemented sales programs generating significant gross margins.
