Andrea Ortiz, Ph.D., currently serves as the Science Research Manager at Space Center Houston since October 2023. Prior to this role, Andrea held the position of Postdoctoral Associate at MD Anderson Cancer Center from April 2023 to September 2023. Between June 2017 and January 2023, Andrea completed graduate studies at Baylor College of Medicine, focusing on the impact of Ca2+/Calmodulin-Dependent Protein Kinase Kinase 2 on macrophage functions during dietary stress, with a thesis supported by the Ruth L. Andrea's earlier experience includes roles as a Medical Research Technician at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso and a Research & Teaching Assistant at El Paso Community College, where work involved multidrug-resistant microbes. Additionally, Andrea dedicated six years to teaching science across various subjects in K-12 settings, primarily in underserved communities. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Baylor College of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M University.
