Silvia Chan

Silvia Chan, Ph.D., is a Senior Materials Engineer at SpaceX, specializing in the Starlink Satellite Dish, where significant cost analysis and reduction initiatives have been implemented, resulting in program savings of tens of millions and annual material cost savings exceeding $100k through recycling efforts. Previously, Silvia completed a Ph.D. in Electronic Materials at the University of California, Santa Barbara, under the guidance of Professor Umesh Mishra, achieving groundbreaking advancements in GaN semiconductor technologies. Silvia also gained research experience as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania and participated in internships at prestigious institutions, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Tohoku University, focusing on advanced materials characterization and novel sensor technologies.
