Richard Welford

Richard Welford has over 35 years of experience in the automotive and green-tech sectors. Richard began their career in 1986 at Jaguar Cars as a Technician Apprentice before transitioning to full-time education under a Jaguar Cars sponsorship. After graduation, they joined the Body Engineering group, first in Seating Design before moving to Occupant Restraints and Vehicle Safety. In 1995, they joined Autoliv Inc., where they held various roles including R&D Director, Engineering Director, Programme Manager, and Principle Engineer. In 2005, they joined Tata Technologies as Chief Development Officer, and then held various roles including Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer, Chief Strategy Officer & President Strategic Business Unit, President, EU Global Solutions, and President Strategic Business Unit, and Executive Vice President, and Vice President. In 2017, they became the Managing Director of EVOLVE SBC (Strategic Business Consulting) Limited, and in 2018 they joined the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust as a Non-Executive Director (Independent Director). In 2021, they became the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Interim at Spark EV Technology, and in 2022 they became the Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder at FR8 Technology Limited.

Richard Welford received a Postgraduate Degree in Leadership & Management from Coventry University in 2018. Richard also attended Coventry University from 1988 to 1991, studying Mechanical Engineering.
