Courtney B. Shelton

Courtney B. Shelton is the VP of Student & Professional Development & Design at Spartanburg Methodist College. Courtney has over 8 years of experience in higher education, specifically in student development and programming.

Courtney started their career in 2008 as the Director of The Space at Wofford College. In this role, they were responsible for presenting the mission of the college to students and gain financial support for programs from donors. Courtney also created the Mike Brown Internship Program, an innovative approach to assisting students in securing global summer experiences.

In 2015, Courtney became the Interim Executive Director at Wofford College and co-created a summer leadership program that generated $600,000 in revenue over five years. Courtney also developed a network of professionals and industry contacts for full-time student employment, internships, and fund raising opportunities.

In 2016, Courtney accepted their current position at Spartanburg Methodist College. In this role, they create and delivers career development programs for students leading to 95% of students being employed or in graduate school within 6 months of graduation. Courtney has also secured outside funding to supplement departmental budget and managed the 2015-2016 departmental budget.

Courtney B. Shelton has a MBA from the Darla Moore School of Business in Business Administration and Management, General. Courtney also has BA and BS degrees in English and Biology from Wofford College. Courtney is certified as a Myers Briggs Type Indicator Certified Practitioner from CPP, Inc. and as a StrengthsQuest Educator from Gallup.
