Federico Morando

Federico Morando has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Federico is currently serving as the Head of Data Strategies at SpazioDati srl since December 2022. Prior to that, they held leadership positions in Synapta, an innovative start-up, where they were the General Manager from June 2022 until the present and served as the President and CEO from January 2016 to June 2022. In this role, they focused on data curation, interoperability, and creating value from open data.

Federico also has experience with the Nexa Center for Internet & Society, where they held several roles. Federico was a Fellow starting from December 2008, and then took on the role of Director of Research and Policy & Research Fellow from January 2013 to December 2015. Additionally, they served as the Managing Director & Research Fellow from December 2008 to December 2012. Their research interests at the Nexa Center focused on open data, open licensing, and new models of production and sharing of digital contents.

In their earlier career, Federico worked at Bocconi University as an Adjunct Professor from September 2006 to February 2011 and as a Teaching Assistant from September 2005 to February 2007. Federico also worked as an Assistant Editor at IJCLP from January 2007 to March 2008.

Furthermore, Federico started their career as a Junior Research Fellow at Bocconi University from May 2004 to November 2004. Federico Morando has an extensive education history. Federico earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Law from Ghent University in 2007 to 2008. Prior to that, they pursued an IEL Ph.D. in Economic analysis of law and institutions at Università degli Studi di Torino from 2005 to 2008. In 2004 to 2005, Federico obtained a Master's degree in Economics and Econometrics (EcoMath) from Université Toulouse 1 Capitole.

Earlier in their education, from 1999 to 2004, Federico completed their undergraduate studies at Università Bocconi, earning a Laurea in Scienze Economiche, Statistiche e Sociali (CLE) with a specialization in Economics. As part of their undergraduate experience, they spent a semester as an exchange student at ESSEC Business School in 2003, studying Economics and Management.

Federico also gained international exposure by participating in academic programs abroad. In 2002, they attended the University of Havana for a Campus Abroad program focusing on Economics related to EU-Latin America relationships.

Lastly, Federico completed their secondary education at Liceo "E. Amaldi" in Novi Ligure, Italy, from 1994 to 1999, earning a Maturità Classica. The curriculum included studying Latin, Ancient Greek, and Philosophy.
