John Mackarey

John Mackarey is Clinical Director of, and Physical Therapist at, SPEAR’s Long Island City – CityView clinic. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Temple University in 2017 and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA in 2013. During his time at Temple University, his clinical experience included cardiopulmonary ICU, vestibular/balance, orthopedics, and neurological rehabilitation. These experiences fostered a passion for evidence-based treatment with a special interest in low back and vestibular disorders. It is his intent to formulate treatment plans using the most current physical therapy approaches, supported through research. John implements a variety of manual therapy techniques that are individualized for each of his patients which helps expedite their recovery.

John developed a passion for physical therapy at a very young age. He was raised in a family of physical therapists and has been working in a physical therapy clinic since he was 14 years old. Over the years working in these clinics, John developed a love for the unique and ever-changing body of knowledge that defines the profession of physical therapy: an active, dynamic, patient-oriented approach to health and wellness grounded in current wisdom. Furthermore, he values above all, the relationships and personal connections that he establishes with the patients and families he serves.
