Iz Beltagy

Iz Beltagy is an accomplished computer scientist currently serving as Chief Scientist and Cofounder at Spiffy AI since November 2023, following a role as Lead Research Scientist at the Allen Institute for AI (AI2) since December 2017, where Iz leads research on OLMo. Previous experience includes positions as Senior Research Scientist and Research Scientist at Quora, and a Machine Learning Engineer role at The University of Texas at Austin, where Iz was also a Research Assistant under the mentorship of Raymond J. Mooney and Katrin Erk. Additional experience encompasses internships at Microsoft Research and VMware, teaching assistant positions in various computer science courses, and software engineering with EJADA. Iz holds a PhD and Master's in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Austin, as well as a Master's and Bachelor's in Computer Science and Engineering from Alexandria University.
