Derek Distenfield

Derek Distenfield is the current CRO at SplitByte Inc. Prior to this, they served as a United States Army Information Technology Officer and Director for eight years of post-9/11 military service. This included three combat deployments, one in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (as part of the surge), the two in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Derek started out enlisted and achieved the rare feat of receiving a college degree on active duty and then being awarded an Officer commission within three and a half years of service. Derek developed tactics integrating Drones, GPS, and communications that were published in two military journals. Derek was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service.

After their military service, Derek has held various positions in the tech industry. Derek was the CEO of Cult Following from August 2018 to April 2019. Derek was also on the Board Of Directors for MovoCash, Inc. From June 2015 to December 2016, they were the Director of Growth & Community Engagement at Bunker Labs. Additionally, Derek has experience as an investor and advisory board member for Block Studios and Voicescript.

Derek Distenfield has a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a BS in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and certifications from the US Army in Officer Candidate School and Basic IT & Networking Course, and from the Federal Aviation Administration - FAA in FAA, Air Traffic Control Tower Rating.

They work with Saket Bohania - Co-Founder & CPO, Arvind Srinivasan - Co-Founder & CTO, and Gary Fowler - President. Derek Distenfield reports to Raghu Rao, Co-Founder & CEO.
