J.D. Wood has built a strong career in the sports industry, holding various positions in both management and event planning. J.D. currently works as the Regional Vice President of Strategic Development at The Sports Facilities Companies. In addition, they are the CEO and Owner of EventMode Strategies, LLC. Prior to these roles, Wood served as the Director of Business Development & Events at the Dallas Sports Commission from 2020 to 2023. J.D. also gained experience as the General Manager of the Panama City Beach Sports Complex and as an Assistant Lecturer for the Sport Management Department at Texas A&M University. Wood has a strong background in tourism and athletic supervision, having worked as the Tourism Manager and Lead Athletic Supervisor for the City of College Station. J.D. also held positions as the Sports Sales and Services Manager at the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau and as the Promotional & Events Coordinator at Connor Sport Court International. Wood's expertise extends to event management, as demonstrated by their role as the Zone Manager at the 2011 NFL Experience at Super Bowl XLV, where they oversaw various aspects of the event.
J.D. Wood has a solid educational background in the field of sport management. J.D. obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Sport Management from Texas A&M University, where they studied from 2005 to 2009. Building upon this foundation, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Sport Management from the same institution, attending from 2009 to 2010.
In addition to their formal education, J.D. Wood has also acquired several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. J.D. obtained the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education in May 2021. This was preceded by the Post-Crisis Leadership Certificate, which they obtained from the same institution in July 2020. J.D. Wood is also SafeSport Certified, having completed the certification program offered by the U.S. Center for SafeSport in May 2020.
To further expand their qualifications, J.D. Wood obtained the Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification from the National Recreation and Park Association in March 2018. J.D. has also completed the Leading Champions Executive Leadership Certificate from the Center for Executive Development at Texas A&M University in April 2017. Lastly, J.D. Wood earned the Sports Tourism Strategist (STS) certification from the Sports Events & Tourism Association in April 2015.
