Dan Oblinger

Dan Oblinger has an extensive and diverse work experience, spanning over several industries and roles. Dan currently works as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at SportsVisio, Inc. since February 2023. Prior to this, they were the Head of Artificial Intelligence, CTO, and Co-Founder at Analytics Fire (acquired by R-Zero) from 2013 to 2022. Their notable achievements at Analytics Fire include developing a manufacturing line optimizer and a ML-based automation for creating solar installation designs. These contributions were recognized as the largest driver of new revenue growth by a Fortune 1000 client.

Before their time at Analytics Fire, Dan served as the CTO at Aeolus Robotics, Inc. from 2016 to 2018, where they led the development of eldercare robots in partnership with a Japanese conglomerate. Dan demonstrated a prototype at CES 2017 and built a global research and development organization with 60 members across six continents.

Dan co-founded Martian Robots, later acquired by Aeolus Robotics, where they served as the CTO and Co-founder in 2015. Dan led a team in inventing a robotic arm for cleaning bathroom surfaces using adaptive AI and sensor feedback loops.

As a co-founder and CTO at PayByGroup from 2011 to 2013, Dan reimagined consumer transaction flow for group purchases in the travel and retail sectors. The company was later acquired by FEVO.

Dan's earlier career includes serving as a Program Manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) from 2005 to 2011. Dan played a pivotal role in advancing AI and ML technologies, managing numerous research and development programs. Prior to that, they worked at IBM Research as a Research Staff Member from 1998 to 2005, focusing on applying ML and analytics to K-12 developmental reading comprehension. During their tenure, they developed a practical automated scripting algorithm that earned recognition and was integrated into the IBM Rational software suite.

Additionally, Dan briefly worked as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University in the City of New York in 2003.

Dan Oblinger has an extensive education history in the field of computer science and mathematics. Dan obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Northern Kentucky University, where they studied from 1983 to 1987. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science at The Ohio State University from 1987 to 1989. Dan's educational journey culminated with a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they completed between 1989 and 1998.
