Cobus Kleynhans

Cobus Kleynhans has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and positions. Cobus began their career in 1995 as an Analyst at First National Bank of Southern Africa, where they provided financial analysis and administrative support. Cobus then worked at Price Forbes Group Limited as a Dual Function Technician, handling underwriting and claims administration for commercial and industrial businesses.

In 1997, Cobus joined Nedcor Group Insurance Brokers as a Bookkeeper and later became a Commercial Short-Term Underwriter, responsible for underwriting and claims administration for commercial and industrial clients. Cobus also managed mortgage life insurance policies offered to Nedcor Bank clients.

Cobus transitioned to St. Paul Insurance Company (S.A.) Limited in 2000, where they served as an Underwriting Manager, overseeing the surety team and making underwriting limit approvals for clients nationwide. Cobus also played a role in business development and pricing strategy.

In 2002, Cobus joined Lombard Insurance Company Ltd as a Senior Underwriter in the Bonding Division. Cobus was responsible for managing key accounts, designing and implementing new business processes, and mentoring senior underwriters. Cobus gradually progressed to roles such as Underwriting Manager and Head of Systems, where they focused on managing system and data-related projects and provided system and process support to business users.

In 2015, Cobus joined Nordic Guarantee Insurance Company as the Head of IT, Systems & Data Management. Cobus ensured ICT stability and continuity, directed external technical teams to deliver solutions aligned with strategic goals, and promoted a culture of direct involvement with all business teams. Cobus also took on the role of Company Controller, executing monthly reconciliations, reporting on KPIs, and managing the budget and forecast process.

Currently, Cobus Kleynhans is a Data Engineer at SQL Service AB, where they apply their expertise in handling and analyzing data.

Cobus Kleynhans completed their Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Johannesburg between 1991 and 1995. Cobus also obtained a MicroMasters certificate in Project Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2020. In addition to their formal education, Cobus has obtained several certifications, including a Certified Data Protection Officer from PECB in March 2023, an ITIL 4 Foundation certification from AXELOS Global Best Practice in March 2023, an Introduction to Python Programming certification from the Georgia Institute of Technology in May 2021, a Cybersecurity: Managing Risk in the Information Age certification from HarvardX - An Online Learning Initiative by Harvard University through edX in October 2020, a Professional Scrum Master certification from Scrum.org in July 2020, a Professional Scrum Product Owner certification from Scrum.org in July 2020, a Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification from Microsoft in June 2022, and a Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate certification from Microsoft in December 2022.
