Gabriel Chaney has had a diverse range of work experiences throughout their career. Gabriel started their career at the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, where they worked as a Software Engineer. During their time there, they developed JavaScript and CSS infrastructure for a new web application and promoted the use of Backbone.js to the development team.

After their stint at the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, Gabriel joined InfernoRed Technology as a Software Developer. Gabriel played a crucial role in answering client performance questions about their SaaS web application and contributed to web and mobile applications.

Gabriel then transitioned to Giftcard Zen, where they worked as a Lead Developer. Gabriel helped build the foundation for the continuous integration and delivery pipeline and played a key role in transitioning the architecture from monoliths towards microservices. Gabriel also developed a scalable interview process to build the core team and provided technical documentation for the company's acquisition by RetailMeNot.

Following their time at Giftcard Zen, Gabriel joined RetailMeNot, Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer. Gabriel later took on the role of Engineering Manager, where they empowered a growing number of engineers and led the team to ship critical APIs and products.

Gabriel then joined HomeLight as a Software Engineer. This was a transitional period for him, leaving their first acquisition experience. Gabriel arrived after a Series A round and sought another early-stage startup experience to further enhance their skills.

Next, Gabriel worked at Medumo as a Senior Software Engineer. Medumo was a health tech company acquired by Philips in 2019. At Medumo, Gabriel drove microservice development and filled gaps in process, from branching strategies to infrastructure creation.

After their time at Medumo, Gabriel joined Philips as a Software Engineering Lead. Gabriel guided their team through updating legacy systems to scale with an increased number of patients. Gabriel also promoted a product vision for a new API and drove cross-functional collaboration for a potential new cardiology business opportunity within the Philips product ecosystem.

Gabriel then co-founded Package Portal, Inc., where they served as the Chief Technology Officer. Gabriel recruited a small team of founding engineers and set the tone for architecture and API and pub/sub governance. Gabriel learned native app development from scratch and coordinated with contracted UX designers to create and implement branding and design systems. Gabriel also established the company's IT infrastructure and set up GSuite, Rippling, and other tools.

Currently, Gabriel is working at Squadformers as a Lead Software Engineer. Starting in 2022, they will transition to the role of Staff Software Engineer in 2023.

Throughout their career, Gabriel has demonstrated expertise in software development, team leadership, technical documentation, and driving cross-functional collaboration.

Gabriel Chaney completed their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Arizona State University from 2004 to 2007. Before that, they attended Paradise Valley Community College from 2000 to 2004, where they obtained an Associate of Applied Science degree in Science. Additionally, Gabriel obtained the Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification from Scrum Alliance in May 2011.
