Ryan Gassaway

Ryan Gassaway has extensive work experience in the education sector. Ryan is currently employed at St. Edmund's Academy, where they serve as the Associate Head of School, Academics. Prior to this role, they worked as the Director of Upper School at the same institution.

Before joining St. Edmund's Academy, Ryan worked at the KIPP Foundation as the Director of Instructional Leadership Development. Ryan was responsible for developing instructional leadership programs.

From 2013 to 2018, Ryan served as the Principal at Coney Island Prep, where they played a significant role in managing and leading the school. Prior to that, they held the role of Dean of Student Culture at the same institution. Additionally, Ryan was one of the founding teachers at Coney Island Prep and was instrumental in establishing the non-fiction reading position for 5th-grade students.

Ryan's career in education began with Teach for America in 2007. Ryan initially worked as a Corps Member, teaching social studies to 7th and 8th-grade students. Ryan also took on additional responsibilities such as coaching basketball, advising student council, and organizing college visits. Ryan then transitioned into various roles at Teach for America Institute, including school operations manager, instructional coach, and school director.

Ryan Gassaway completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Florida, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Ryan then pursued a Masters of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University, which they successfully obtained between 2013 and 2015.
