Katherine Bourne-Yearwood

Director, University Health Services at St. George's University

Dr. Katherine Yearwood has been the director of the University Health Services at St. George’s University since 2014, where she oversees healthcare services at the University clinic, managing the staff, inventory, and budget to ensure that the facility provides a high standard of care to the SGU community. She works closely with the dean of students and other University departments including psychological services and student accessibility and accommodations services as an advocate for ill students who may need accommodations.

Dr. Yearwood joined SGU in 2000 as part-time faculty in the department of clinical skills, where she assisted in teaching anatomy and physiology. In 2003, she became a full-time professor in the clinical skills department and an adjunct faculty in the bioethics department, where she taught a selective in pain management. Dr. Yearwood was the medical director for the SGU chapter of the International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) from 2006 to 2018.

Dr. Yearwood received her medical degree at the University of the West Indies in 1992, where she specialized in anesthesia. She received a bachelor’s degree in physiology at University of Western Ontario.
