Evert De Smet has extensive experience in public administration and local governance, currently serving as Schepen van R.O., Feestelijkheden, Toerisme, Patrimonium, Dierenwelzijn en Deelgemeenten and Gemeenteraadslid for Stad Zottegem since January 2013, specializing in finance, mobility, and environmental policy. Evert holds additional roles, including Schepen of Mobility and Public Works at Vlaamse Belastingdienst since October 2021, and previously worked as a public relations officer in the cabinet of Flemish Minister Matthias Diependaele. Evert's career also includes leadership positions within the N-VA party, serving as Provinciaal Bewegingsverantwoordelijke for Oost-Vlaanderen and as a parliamentary assistant. Educational qualifications include studies at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Leicester Square School of English, London.
