Robert Band

Robert Band is an experienced finance and risk management professional currently serving as Executive, Risk at Standard Bank Group since November 2020, focusing on credit risk for the industrials, consumer, and natural resources sectors. Prior to this role, Robert took a career break and served as Head of Finance: Corporate and Projects and Group Financial Controller at The De Beers Group of Companies from January 2014 to April 2019, where responsibilities included overseeing financial reporting and managing a team of approximately 15 individuals across London and Johannesburg. Earlier experience includes roles as Business Development Manager for Anglo American’s Copper business unit in Chile, and Corporate Finance Manager within the same company, as well as an Associate role at McQueen focusing on corporate finance advisory. Robert holds a Master of Arts in History from the University of Cambridge and multiple degrees in accounting and finance from the University of Cape Town, complemented by early education at St. John's College in Johannesburg.
