Phyllis Stewart Pires, M.A.Ed, currently serves as the Associate Vice President of Human Resources at Stanford University, overseeing a newly formed team that focuses on critical university-wide supports, including mental health initiatives and flexible work programs. With a strong background in caregiving supports, Phyllis previously held the role of Assistant Vice President at Stanford, providing strategic vision for the child care and early childhood education system. As the Senior Director of WorkLife Strategy at Stanford, responsibility included designing programs to balance work and personal life for the community. Phyllis also contributed to the College and University Work-Life-Family Association as Board President and led global diversity initiatives as Vice President at SAP. Early career experience includes a Senior Director role at Cisco, shaping community experience and human resources strategies. Phyllis holds a Master’s degree in Developmental Studies from UCLA and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of the Pacific.
