Vinson Tran

Vinson Tran has a diverse work experience in the fields of data science, machine learning, and deep learning. Vinson has held various roles in multiple companies, including Stanwell Corporation Limited, Bowen Rail Company, Abbot Point Operations, BHP, VARUC, Aurizon, Department of Transport and Main Roads, MIPAC, The University of Queensland, and Honeywell Process Solutions.

In their most recent role as a Senior Model Ops Engineer at Stanwell Corporation Limited, Vinson engages with stakeholders across different business verticals to identify their unique needs and develop machine learning strategies.

Prior to that, they worked as a Principal Data Scientist at Bowen Rail Company and Abbot Point Operations, where they focused on advancing the safety, environmental, and economic standards of the rail freight industry.

Vinson also served as a Data Science Specialist at BHP, a Senior Data Scientist at VARUC, Aurizon, and the Department of Transport and Main Roads. In these roles, they delivered data science projects, provided machine learning capabilities, and offered data analysis and system implementation services.

Earlier in their career, Vinson worked as a Data Scientist at MIPAC, where they focused on disrupting the process control industry using data science methods. Vinson also served as a Senior Research Consultant Lead at The University of Queensland, where they provided bespoke data science methodologies and techniques for research projects.

Prior to that, they worked as a Process Control Engineer and Data Analyst at Honeywell Process Solutions, where they applied Six Sigma methodologies and delivered technical solutions to enhance workflow productivity.

Vinson Tran's education history includes a Masters of Data Science degree from The University of Queensland, which they obtained from 2017 to 2019. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering (with an extended major in Mechanical and Electrical) from the same university from 2008 to 2012.

In addition to their formal education, Vinson has also pursued certifications in various fields. Vinson obtained the Developing Applications with PI AF SDK certification from OSIsoft in July 2017. Vinson also holds a CPCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry certification from Allens Training, obtained in January 2017. Furthermore, they have certifications in Experion PKS PAS Systems Engineering and Experion PKS PAS Control Application from Honeywell Process Solutions, acquired in December 2013 and November 2013 respectively. Lastly, Vinson has a Six Sigma - Green Belt certification from Honeywell Process Solutions, obtained in June 2013.
