Manager, Head of Procurement at Star Ceramics

Rafiqul Islam is currently the Manager, Head of Procurement at Star Ceramics. Prior to this, they were with International Beverages Pvt. Ltd. (a subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Company) from July 2013 to November 2018, where they served as Assistant Manager-Procurement. In this role, they led project procurement (capital machineries, Consumable & all necessary materials) of Coca-Cola's first ever production facility in Bangladesh (Valuka, Mymensingh), a 100% foreign investment. Rafiqul also developed backward (RM/PM) & forward linkage (Logistics/Service/Distribution) for the new facility.

During their time with International Beverages Pvt. Ltd., Rafiqul Islam was responsible for handling the entire process of Import and closely coordinating with suppliers & carrying out overall LC opening activities through intense interaction with overseas exporters and local banks. Rafiqul also coordinated with overseas parties, banks, insurance companies, C & F agents, transporters, third party inspection companies, NBR, BOI, CCI&E- for smooth and timely supply of all import’s materials. In addition, they performed 'shadow-costing' through parallel cost benchmarking to arrive at most competitive finished goods pricing by analyzing duty structure, international market price of RM & other controlling factors.

Some of Rafiqul Islam's major achievements include leading the total sourcing, purchase & procurement of electro-mechanical items during new project work, as well as providing total Import & local purchase support during green field to factory set up.

Rafiqul Islam has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from American International University-Bangladesh and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology.

They work with and Shahanur Rahman - Assistant General Manager, Head of Accounts & Finance. Rafiqul Islam reports to Muhammad Khaliduzzaman, GM, HR & Admin.
