David Halupka

Founder, Director at StarIC

David Halupka has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. David is currently the Founder and Director of StarIC and SeriaLink Systems, both of which they established in 2019. In 2020, they worked as a University Lecturer at the University of Toronto.

Prior to these roles, Halupka served as a Sr. System Engineer at Intel Canada LTD from 2018 to 2019, where they played a crucial role in developing HW LMS-based HSIO receiver equalization for NRZ and PAM4 standards. David also contributed to the implementation of a unified system modeling flow for HSIO.

Before joining Intel, Halupka held a Principal Engineer & System Architect & Technical Lead position at Kapik from 2015 to 2018. In this role, they architected ASICs for various applications and managed both internal and external teams. David successfully delivered functional silicon and managed customer relationships. Prior to that, Halupka worked as a Mixed Signal Designer, Digital Architecture & Design, CAD and IT Infrastructure at Kapik Integration from 2010 to 2015.

Halupka's earlier experiences include serving as a Volunteer at the IEEE International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) from 2006 to 2010, where they managed a group of graduate students and developed streaming capabilities for conference sessions. David also served as a Teaching Assistant and Tutorial/Lab Instructor at the University of Toronto from 2002 to 2009, receiving departmental teaching awards for their performance. Before that, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Artificial Perception Lab, University of Toronto, from 2001 to 2006. Finally, Halupka gained early industry experience as a Hardware Engineer (Student Intern) at Motorola Canada - Multiservice Networks Division from 2000 to 2001, where they contributed to the design and testing of network routers and surveillance systems.

David Halupka attended the University of Toronto from 1997 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Computer Engineering with a focus on Hardware. David then pursued further education at the same institution and obtained a Master of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering from 2002 to 2004. Continuing their academic journey, they subsequently earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto, completing their studies in 2010. David Halupka's educational background predominantly lies in the fields of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering.
