Joseph Smith

Co-director Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, And Belonging at STATEN ISLAND ACADEMY

Joseph Smith is a dedicated educator with extensive experience in teaching high school English, currently serving as a High School English Teacher at Staten Island Academy since June 2017. This role includes instructing advanced placement courses as well as various literature and writing seminars for grades 10 to 12. Joseph also holds the position of Co-Director for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging while coaching volleyball. Previous experience includes working as a Teaching Assistant at The Hun School of Princeton, supporting SAT/ACT verbal instruction and writing courses. Earlier roles involved coaching football at St. Francis High School and welcoming visitors as a Front Desk Receptionist at Princeton University. Joseph is pursuing a Master of Arts in English at Middlebury College Bread Loaf School of English, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Princeton University.
