Claire Regan has extensive experience in journalism and education, currently serving as the immediate past president of the Society of Professional Journalists after leading the organization as national president during the 2022-2023 term. Regan has been a contributing writer for the Staten Island Advance since 1990, covering various topics and holding multiple editorial positions. In parallel, Regan has been an assistant professor of journalism at Wagner College since 1990, teaching diverse courses and advising the student newspaper. Additionally, Regan has played a prominent role in The Deadline Club as past president, engaged in copy editing for the Poynter Institute, facilitated judging for the Society for News Design, and served as a redesign consultant for Star News Group. Regan holds a Bachelor of Science in education and art, magna cum laude, from Wagner College and is an Ethics Fellow from the Poynter Institute.
