Hyacinth Empinado

Hyacinth Empinado is the special projects editor for STAT's multimedia team. She’s also the senior producer of "The Readout LOUD" podcast. A biology graduate, Hyacinth worked as a lab technician before receiving her master’s degree in health and medical journalism from the University of Georgia, where she filmed videos about malaria research in Ghana and interned at WUGA-TV. In 2018, she won a Mass Creator Award and earned a Webby nomination. Hyacinth enjoys watching sitcoms and collecting rainbow-colored things.
