Brian Gildea has a diverse work experience in the field of intellectual property law and counseling. Brian started their career as a Senior Scientist at Millipore Corporation and later joined PerSeptive Biosystems as the Manager of the Office of Intellectual Property. Brian then co-founded Boston Probes, where they served as the Co-Founder, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. Brian also held multiple roles at Boston Probes, including Patent Attorney and Director of Chemistry.
Following their time at Boston Probes, Brian worked as a Senior Attorney at Applera Corporation before establishing their own law firm, Brian D. Gildea, P.C. As the owner, they provided legal services in various areas, including intellectual property. Brian then joined Boston University as the Executive Director of Intellectual Property & Licensing. In this role, they managed the university's patent portfolio and handled all related transactions. Brian also supervised outside counsel and successfully resolved licensing disputes.
Brian later joined PNA Innovations, Inc., where they served as General and Intellectual Property Counsel. Brian was responsible for the company's legal requirements, including assisting the CEO and SVP of Research, participating in negotiations and due diligence for a venture capital-backed merger, and delegating responsibilities to outside counsel.
During their tenure at Trucode Gene Repair, Inc., Brian held the position of Senior IP Counsel & Director of Chemistry Strategy. Brian provided counsel on intellectual property matters and directed the company's chemistry strategy.
Currently, Brian works as Senior IP Counsel at Stealth BioTherapeutics, where they utilize their extensive experience in intellectual property law to support the company's legal needs.
Brian Gildea obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Stonehill College, where they studied from 1981 to 1985. Brian further pursued their education and earned a Master of Science degree in Bio Organic Chemistry from Boston College, completing their studies between 1985 and 1988. Finally, they attended Suffolk University Law School from 1992 to 1996, where they obtained their Juris Doctor (JD) degree specializing in Law.
