Richard Lane has had a diverse range of work experiences throughout their career. Richard began their career as a Research Assistant for Rt. Hon Yvette Cooper MP in the UK Parliament, where they managed correspondence and produced communication material. Richard then worked as a Campaign Associate for Hillary Clinton for President, focusing on volunteer management and online campaign membership. Lane also served as an Executive Officer in the Cabinet Office, overseeing recruitment and providing administrative support.
Lane's experience in political campaigns continued with roles at PoliticsHome, where they worked as a US Correspondent during the US Presidential election, and Obama for America, where they served as a Deputy Field Organiser during a "Get out the Vote" drive in Wisconsin.
Lane later transitioned into the nonprofit sector, working for organizations such as the Fabian Society, Stonewall, Scope, and StepChange Debt Charity. At the Fabian Society, they managed event programs and developed relationships with political contacts. At Stonewall, they led communications campaigns and media strategies, including the high-profile campaign "Rainbow Laces" to tackle homophobia in Premier League football. At Scope, they oversaw integrated communications teams and led marketing campaigns, and at StepChange Debt Charity, they held leadership positions focused on external affairs and operational teams.
Throughout their career, Lane has developed extensive skills in communications, public affairs, stakeholder engagement, campaign management, and operational leadership. Their work experiences have spanned different industries and sectors, showcasing their adaptability and expertise.
Richard Lane attended Bedford Modern School from 1997 to 2003. Richard then enrolled at the University of Southampton, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Politics & International Relations and graduated with a 2:1 in 2006. In 2006, they continued their studies at the same university and obtained a Master of Science degree in Global Security in 2008. Currently, Richard is attending Cambridge Judge Business School, pursuing an Executive MBA degree, which they expect to complete in 2023.
