John Downey

John Downey currently serves as the Vice President for Campus Life & Student Success at Stetson University, a position held since January 2023. Previously, John held leadership roles as Dean of Students at both Widener University from May 2019 to December 2022 and Queens University of Charlotte from September 2003 to May 2019, focusing on comprehensive student affairs and various aspects of student life. Earlier experience includes serving as Director of the Academic Advising Center at the University at Albany, SUNY, and Assistant Dean at the University of Richmond, where responsibilities encompassed student discipline, faculty engagement, and orientation programs. John began a career in student activities at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. John holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Policy Studies from Indiana University Bloomington, an MA in Business Administration from The College of New Jersey, and a BS in Business Administration from Rider University.
