Juan Gutierrez has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Juan began their career in 1994 in the US Navy, where they served as an officer and later became the Detachment Officer in Charge/Department Head. During this time, they led teams and oversaw training, maintenance, and logistics for various aircraft.
After leaving the navy, Gutierrez joined the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in 2004, where they held various roles. Juan served as an MH-60 Romeo Project Officer/Squadron Operations Officer, leading the development and testing of mission planning systems. Juan also worked as the MH-60 Common Systems/Future Capabilities IPT Lead, overseeing the procurement of avionics systems and evaluating future capabilities for the H-60 program.
In 2008, Gutierrez moved to the role of Assistant Program Manager Test and Evaluation (APM T&E)/Test Lead at NAVAIR. In this position, they managed test requirements and coordinated with contractors, test squadrons, and program offices for multiple H-60 variants.
In 2013, Gutierrez joined DCMA Europe as the Chief of Staff/LNO to EUCOM and AFRICOM/Chief of Operations. Juan provided acquisition support for DoD contracts across Europe and managed a team of personnel.
Most recently, Gutierrez worked at PHYSICAL OPTICS CORPORATION as the Vice President of Business Development - Airborne Systems and the Director of Business Development - Flight Systems. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Government Business Development at Stevens Aerospace and Defense Systems, LLC.
Throughout their career, Gutierrez has demonstrated leadership, project management, and strategic vision in various defense and aviation roles.
Juan Gutierrez's education history includes the following:
- From 1990 to 1994, Juan attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering.
- In 2001, Juan enrolled in the Naval Postgraduate School and completed a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 2004.
- From 2001 to 2002, Juan also attended the U.S. Naval War College for the Command and Staff program.
- In 2003, Juan briefly attended the United States Naval Test Pilot School to study Engineering Test Pilot but did not obtain a degree in this field.
