Maame Durowah Okai-Downer

Maame Durowah Okai-Downer is a seasoned professional in social work and cultural diversity, currently serving as a Youth & Family Counselor and Cultural Diversity Trainer at Stichting Jeugdteam Zaanstad since January 2022. Maame co-founded My Story! with Shary Jones, offering cultural sensitivity programs and workshops since March 2019. As the Founder and Project Manager of Stichting The Brighter Day, established in August 2008, Maame focuses on creative, social, and community projects that empower individuals and raise awareness of social issues. Experience also includes roles such as Family Counselor and Social Worker at GGD Zaanstreek - Waterland, Senior & Youth Social Worker at Spirit!, and contributions to academic institutions such as the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Applied Science in Social Work from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and further mentorship in leadership.
