Annette Weber is a seasoned expert in international relations and security, currently serving as a Senior Fellow in the Africa Division at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs since 2007, focusing on the Horn of Africa. Prior to this role, Annette Weber held position as a Professor and Lecturer at Universität Innsbruck from 2002 to 2013, and coordinated efforts at Ökumenisches Netz Zentralafrika between 2003 and 2007. Annette Weber began their career as a Sudan Researcher for Amnesty International from 1998 to 2001. Educationally, Annette Weber earned a Dr. phil in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin, completing studies between 1988 and 1992.
