Michael Bayerlein

Michael Bayerlein is an accomplished academic and researcher with a focus on international relations and security. Currently serving as an Associate at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) since September 2022, Michael previously held roles as Fellow and Researcher at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy from October 2017 to September 2024, and as a Researcher at Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel from January 2019 to September 2022. Additionally, Michael contributed as a Research Fellow at the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AGI) in late 2020. Michael's educational background includes a Doctorate in Political Science from Kiel University, acquired between April 2019 and May 2022, a Master of Arts in International Politics and International Law from Kiel University (2015 - 2019), and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Mannheim (2012 - 2015).
